Our first time going here and the food was excellent, the portions were large, the presentation was nice, and the prices were reasonable.
The soymilk tasted so fresh and pure like how I've had it in Asia and the passionfruit juice was delicious.
It was super-crowded last night, which might have accounted for the not great service, though.
I'm eager to return! -

I've been on the East Side quite a bit for work and now that Mint and Basil has gone dark down the street Green Lotus has been my back up. Now that I've been more careful in what I pick to eat here I've decided to also up my review rating as I think they do have some decent dishes out of their quite large menu. They also have improved their consistency in taste and freshness of the dishes overall.
Now that I've kind of explored a lot of the menu over the years I now kind of know what I like and what I recommend to avoid. I love salads for example but every salad I've had here sucks big time for my taste so I avoid those. I also don't like their spaghetti like rice noodles so I also either get the think pho ones or the thicker and wider ones which are much better. All of the roll appetizers are good but I usually get the spring rolls or the Bi Cuon which are the cheaper cost of all the rolls and taste just as good. Out of all the noodle soups my favorites are the green lotus noodle soup (sub out to wide noodles) the duck noodle soup and Pho noodle soups. The Bun Rieu with the Tofu meatballs is not very good. One the description is not correct as there are no meatballs in the soup. It's this spongy type of tofu that has a strange texture to it so won't get that one again. Surprisingly I really liked the Mushroom Porridge soup. It's very hardy and full of different varieties of mushrooms and it's a thick hearty soup and they give it to you in a big bowl. I also really liked the Chow Fun noodles dish with all the fresh veggies and veggie meats. The noodles fell apart a bit and I don't like their veggie shrimp very much but overall is a solid dish that I enjoy.
Also the staff are more consistent and friendly than before. They seem to always try to accommodate my strange requests like bringing me a pho plate of sprouts and jalapenos to add to dishes it normally doesn't come with. My only last negative that I can't blame the business but there is always no parking in the lot and so you often have to go to the neighboring parking lot to even park. Then you have to clime over homeless people who congregate between the two parking lots. Always is a bit of a disturbing experience so if those kinds of things will bother you then you might think twice coming here. Golden Bamboo is not that far away and is another veggie option in the area. -

Terrible service. Lack of personnel. Good Veg Food.
We frequent this establishment regularly (once a month) and service has always been lacking but can be overlooked because the food is quite good.
However, on this visit it just hit a major nerve. Their constant lack of personnel is astounding.
We waited 15 mins for a table, 10 mins to get our food ordered, 15 mins for us to realize they never put in the order, and another 15 mins for the food. From walking in, to taking my first bite was almost an hour. An hour! No apologies at all.
But is what it is. I don't run this business. I can only give my opinion. -

My friend had recommended this place to me, especially their green lotus egg rolls (NOT to be confused with A5 Egg Rolls!). And she was so right! They were AWESOME. I would come back just for that. I also ended up getting a green lotus salad (figured it would be good, since the restaurant is also named "green lotus").
Salad was pretty good. Definitely fresh and a good portion. Honestly, a bit too sweet for my taste. Not bad though.
I would come again and probably order for pick up. Great colors/decor and friendly staff, but waitresses/waiters dont know a lot of English, so if you have any dietary restrictions (yes, on top of vegan...like no gluten for instance), it's a bit tough to figure out if something is gluten-free or not. From what I've gathered, they do mostly soy based vegan products, rather than gluten.
also: lots of flies and just overall feeling of stickiness, so if that bothers you, order pick up! :) -

I used to LOVE this place until recently...
They stopped serving their specialities like banh khot, vietnamese crepe and few other things. Its become just another vegan restaurant.
